Rauch Safety & Engineering (RSE)

Last Updated: 2026

1. Purpose

Rauch Safety & Engineering (RSE) is committed to ethical conduct, professional integrity, and life-safety responsibility in all jurisdictions where it operates.

This Code establishes standards of conduct for all individuals and entities acting for or with RSE, including:

  • employees
  • officers and directors
  • contractors and consultants
  • technical advisors
  • subcontractors engaged under RSE scope

No commercial objective, project pressure, or client expectation overrides ethical responsibility or professional judgment.

2. Professional Integrity & Independence

RSE operates as an independent engineering practice.

All work must be performed with:

  • objectivity
  • professional judgment
  • technical honesty
  • independence from improper influence

RSE personnel must not allow:

  • commercial pressure
  • product preference
  • client urgency
  • partner relationships

to compromise engineering judgment or life-safety integrity.

3. Legal & Regulatory Compliance

RSE requires compliance with all applicable laws, including:

  • local and national regulations
  • applicable U.S. laws
  • professional engineering standards
  • health and safety laws
  • data protection and privacy requirements

Where legal requirements conflict, guidance from qualified legal counsel shall govern.

4. Accuracy, Transparency & Fair Dealing

All representations made by or on behalf of RSE must be:

  • accurate
  • transparent
  • supported by documented scope

RSE prohibits:

  • misrepresentation of role or responsibility
  • exaggeration of authority
  • implication of regulatory approval
  • claims of certification or compliance endorsement

5. Conflicts of Interest

A conflict exists when personal, financial, or professional interests may compromise — or appear to compromise — independent judgment.

All actual, potential, or perceived conflicts must be disclosed promptly.

RSE may require:

  • recusal
  • scope limitation
  • reassignment
  • termination of engagement

Silence is not neutrality.

5.1 Exception-Based Engineering Intervention

Engineering-led system replacement, including Building Maintenance Units (BMUs) or permanent access systems, is not a standard service offering of Rauch Safety & Engineering.

Such involvement occurs only under exception-based conditions where continued operation, repair, or retrofit has been determined to extend unacceptable life-safety or liability risk.

Any such engagement requires reconfirmation of authority, scope, independence, and conflict-of-interest controls under a separate written agreement and does not include construction supervision, installation services, or vendor representation.

6. Anti-Bribery & Improper Influence

RSE prohibits bribery, kickbacks, or improper influence in any form.

No individual may offer, solicit, or accept anything of value intended to improperly influence:

  • design decisions
  • product selection
  • procurement outcomes
  • engagement awards

7. Confidentiality

All non-public information must be protected.

This includes:

  • client data
  • project documentation
  • assessment submissions
  • proprietary methods
  • the Design Guide and related tools

Confidential information may be used only within authorized scope.

8. Reporting Concerns

Ethical concerns or violations may be reported through the Engage RSE process.

Good-faith reporting is protected from retaliation.

9. Enforcement

Violations may result in:

  • termination of engagement
  • disciplinary action
  • contractual remedies
  • legal action

10. Policy Review

This Code may be updated periodically.
The current published version governs.
